It’s slower paced, but it’s a slow burn that pays dividends as a more deliberate trudge deeper and deeper into depravity.

It never really ratchets up enough tension, which seems virtually impossible given who and what the movie is about.

This film is as noir as they come. Everything from the music, writing, narration, and scene structure screams it.

The violence, while infrequent, is extremely unsettling in all the right ways.
